The E9 coupe, as it is known today by its internal designation, has become a highly sought after car that is essentially the post-war standard for an understatedly elegant coupe. Karmann built the body shells for BMW and the car is essentially one of the prettiest ways to creatively trap moisture ever devised. Rust-free and well-restored examples are rare, however this E9 Coupe is one of those rust-free examples with evidence of all original and rust free body panels. This car spent most of its life in the South with the original odometer showing just over 45,000 miles.

Mechanical Updates over the past 5 years include; New stainless steel exhaust and headers, rebuilt brakes all around, new struts/shocks, complete full engine rebuild from Korman Autoworks, a very reputable BMW high performance engine shop. This M30 also has a Schrick cam and triple Weber carburetors. New Tie Rods are evident.. There has only been 1000 miles put on the car since the rebuild. The underbody is in excellent condition with no rot or visible rust and there is no evidence that the original body panels have been replaced or patched. The underside was treated with POR15, a leading rust inhibitor coating. Additional performance upgrades from the current owner include a high performance Pertronix electronic distributor and coil, halo headlights with LED beams(can be easily converted back to factory headlights). A new heavy-duty radiator was recently installed. The car sounds amazing going down the road with a deep European muscle car sound. it is estimated this BMW is @200 hp due to its performance upgrades.

Cosmetic Updates over the past 5 years include: Complete paint job, 95% new weatherstripping, new front and rear leather seats, carpets, new seat belts, new blue-tooth stereo with handsfree mic, new steering wheel and shift knob. New struts/shocks.
Additionally, the wood trim on the dash and door panels was in rough shape and the current owner decided to sand the wood down, repair the structure of the trim and cover with carbon fiber. It looks excellent. The power windows all work but very typical slow like all other E9's. Bumpers have converted to European bumpers.

Recent Updates: New Tires, Manual Choke Installed, Hood Prop Installed.

Hagerty valuations show these cars are appreciating rapidly and this one makes for a great investment.

Some things should be noted: This car is mostly restored. It can be driven as is and drives great. There are the items that have been unfinished on the car that once completed will increase the value significantly. It is not uncommon for a restored E9 to sell well over $100,000 today. This car is a great investment for the right buyer. Here is the list: 1) Body, there is small crack in the paint on the hood from the wind slamming the hood shut with a jump pack laying inside the engine compartment. This caused a small ding and crack in the paint, it is hardly noticeable. A hood prop was professionally installed to prevent this issue form re-occurring. There is a quarter size ding in the front lower drivers side fender which a paintless dent repair could be made effectively. There is a paint chip that was touched up around the rear trunk emblem. 2) The A/C does not function right now as it still needs to be rebuilt. The sale will come with the original factory compressor. We are told it is between $3-6K to complete this task if chosen to restore, 3) The headliner is in ok condition and the dash pad was replaced but could fit better. To make the interior show worthy, one might want to replace these 2 items. 3) Headlights can be converted back to factory OEM lights easily as the factory harnesses are still in tact. 4) the bumpers are EURO conversions. The rear valence (under rear bumper) still has US cut outs for US bumpers. They are hidden pretty well from bumper. 5) the shifter bushings are a bit worn. The car shifts fine but the shifter itself is a little sloppy. Many E9 users have converted these to 5 series shifters to fix the problem.
